About Cameo
Cameo Electrolysis has been family owned and operated since 1984.
Gezelle Lowe, CPE is the current owner of Cameo Electrolysis and has been operating the Cameo since 2008.
A little history about Cameo Electrolysis:
Izetta Shonts, a lifelong Colorado Springs native, started the business after many years of receiving electrolysis treatments herself. Rather than continue as a client or pay someone else to work on her daughter, Gezelle, Izetta decided to become a certified electrologist and open her own shop. Izetta built the business and after fifteen years her daughter-in-law, Beverly Shonts became the owner when Izetta retired. Cameo Electrolysis moved to its present location when Beverly retired after thirteen years of ownership.
Continuing the family tradition, Gezelle Lowe (aka Gezelle Quinn, Gezelle Shonts, Gezelle Norwitz), daughter of the original owner, bought Cameo with the intent of continuing a family tradition of professional yet personalized treatment of every client. Gezelle earned a bachelor's degree in business from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) and is a graduate of New York's Berkowitz School of Electrology and maintains her Professional Electrologist Certification and is a member of the American Electrology Association and the Colorado Association of Electrologists. For more information on the AEA, http://www.electrology.com/
She worked most of her adult life for dentists at the front desk, learning some about sterilization, but completed her education in sterilization and proper office procedures as an office manager for OBGYN in RI.
Due to Tracy's medical needs at this time, Gezelle has taken a break from electrolysis and went into a semi-retirement phase.
For all appointment needs, please contact Dakota for the time being.

Tracy Lowe (aka Tracy Quinn) is married to Gezelle Lowe and has been working with her since March 2019. He is working towards his CPE. He is a former paramedic, firefighter and police officer. This offers a unique opportunity to get some work done at a lesser expense, since his prices are discounted until he passes the Professional certification exam. This also allows us to offer simultaneous electrolysis by both Tracy and Gezelle, making the process much faster to complete. He is passionate about the work and in helping support the LGBTQIA community. Please read his essay under the transgender tab. He is a member of American Electrology Association.
In August of 2024, Tracy was diagnosed with duodenal cancer and had to go into a quick and forced retirement. Although, he is in a retirement phase, we look forward to his bright smile and fun-filled conversations back at work in no time! However, for now please contact Dakota for all appointment needs.

Dakota Quinn (Tracy's daughter) is our latest addition. Dakota joined Cameo September 2024. She has quickly proven to be a wonderful asset to Cameo. She has clocked more than 300 hours already. She has great enthusiasm and ideas. Due to a quick and somewhat forced retirement, Dakota has taken over and is eager to service all that are in need and want hair removal. Being very open minded, bright, and welcoming to anyone who walks through the door, you couldn't be in better hands. One of her amazing ideas was to start a trans support group at our office. Dakota vows to maintain a safe space and enjoyable experience at every appointment and consultation. One of her phrases is "By the end of this you and I will be best friends!"
Please see the Trans tab for more information regarding the support group.
Below is an essay she wrote as an introduction!

Let’s Begin!!
My name? My name is Dakota! A Native American Sioux name meaning “Friend” or “Ally”.Why did I choose to tell you that? I take my name seriously in this crazy world and time we live in. We currently live in a world that holds many judgements and prejudices.
What is prejudice? Prejudice by definition is a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience. Now, what is judgment? Judgment by definition is the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions. After hearing the definitions of both of those words, how often do you pass judgment or shell out prejudice? How often are these things aimed at you? If you are like me, you’ve had these things aimed at you daily! Walking out in the world and experiencing these things change your life and how you approach things and people in the world. Every morning, you wake up and analyze who and what you need to be when you walk out that door, right? For some of you, the analytics are due to work, some are due to family, some are due to not knowing yourself fully yet. That’s okay. In due time!
For some of you reading this you are not sure where or what I am getting at yet and I am getting ready to explain. If you are reading this, chances are you or a loved one belong to the LGBTQIA+ community. Am I right? Probably. If not, I encourage you to continue reading anyway. In September 2023, I was introduced to a very fragile world when I stepped in my career shoes and chose to become an electrologist alongside my step mother Gezelle and my father Tracy. More than 90% of my clients belong to the community in some way shape or form. With my career choice in removing hair, I chose a career choice in becoming Dakota. Remember? Friend and Ally? That's me! I chose to open my ears, my heart, my mind, and my soul to my clients. I choose to allow vulnerability and emotions in the office as I remove hair one at a time. I choose to be that friend, I choose to be that Ally, I choose to be a safe place, and I stand firm on my decision!!
At this point, some of you are now wondering again, that’s cool but what is she getting at? Here’s the answer. Since I have become an electrologist, a listening ear, and a shoulder to cry on. I realized just how hard some of you have it! I have realized and understand the lack of support. I understand the fear and hesitation to come out in the world and be just who you want to be. I am here to help you! I decided to create an LGBTQIA+ support group called Cameo Butterflies! Why butterflies? What do butterflies do? Butterflies aren’t born butterflies are they? No, butterflies go through a very sensitive transition just as many of you do. Butterflies have to come out of what once was into what will be! A Transition! The process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another. Yes, another definition.
I decided to create this group in order to provide what many of you may or may not have much of and that’s support! I want you to be able to express yourselves in ways that the world you live in may not approve of. I want you to be able to have a voice, an opinion, a debate, an idea, or whatever it is that you need to have. I want you to be AUTHENTICALLY YOU! When you walk into Cameo Electrolysis, you walk into a family environment and even more so an ACCEPTING environment! My stepmother Gezelle, my father Tracy, and myself pride ourselves in being a safe place for whoever needs it the most! Trust me, I know it is a scary world and some of you may not be as trusting due to the monsters out there. However, at Cameo, I promise you are protected in more ways than one! You are accepted, you are heard, you are seen, and most importantly you are understood.
Again, my name is Dakota! I truly am your friend! I honestly am your Ally! I accept you! I hear you! I see you! I understand you! I AM HERE FOR YOU!! With me, I welcome you and want you to choose to be AUTHENTICALLY YOU!! Our doors are open for you and welcome you to Cameo Butterflies, Where You Are Free To Be Authentically You!
Thank You!!
